History & Background

With One Voice began with a simple but powerful idea:
Michigan’s suicide prevention efforts are strongest when we are connected, coordinated, and speaking together.
Inspired in 2018 after Kevin’s Song co-founder Gail Urso attended a Kennedy Forum conference, With One Voice grew from the recognition that many organizations across Michigan were working toward the same goals — prevention, education, treatment, advocacy, and postvention — but often in separate spaces.
Today, With One Voice serves as Michigan’s statewide suicide prevention coalition of coalitions.
We exist to align, amplify, and support the work already happening across the state — not duplicate it.

Honoring MASP’s Legacy
For many years, the Michigan Association for Suicide Prevention served as a statewide resource for suicide prevention awareness, education, hope, help, and connection. MASP helped elevate the message that suicide prevention belongs to all of us and that Michiganders should have access to information, resources, and support before, during, and after crisis.
With One Voice is honored to help steward that legacy. As WOV grows, we will continue to build on the values MASP championed: hope, help, education, prevention, survivor support, community awareness, and statewide connection.
By carrying MASP’s legacy forward, With One Voice is helping Michigan move toward a more unified and sustainable statewide suicide prevention infrastructure.
